Banff Day 1, Part 2: Lunch in Banff and River Float

After we left Sunshine Meadows, we decided to drive to the town of Banff and grab lunch. I had done a bit of research about restaurants before we left because I have two kids who are super picky! I knew that we wanted to eat in town at least a couple of times to try out places. Today, we decided to try out Bear Street Tavern for lunch and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the service was spot on and we were only sorry that we didn’t go there more often on the trip. The boys both got pizza, the oldest got cheese and the youngest got pepperoni. My husband ordered the chicken wings and soup. We started with nachos because I love nachos and the pulled pork nachos were delicious. I ordered the Big Bird pizza and the pulled pork ciabatta to share with my mom. My MIL ordered the stuffed portobella with a salad. We decided to skip dessert because we wanted to walk down to Beaver Tails and grab one to give it a try. Here are the photos of our food: #bearstreettavern @bearstreettavern

Bear Street Tavern also gives you this honey and sauce mixture that you can put together and dip your pizza crust into. They said that it slowly builds heat, which is true. Both of my guys ate it with no problem. If I could figure out this recipe, I would eat pizza a lot more often. It was delicious and worth a visit just to try this mixture!!!

Mixed these together to make the best dipping sauce for pizza. If I could have smuggled it back on the plane, I would have!!

After lunch, we walked over the Beaver Tails and ordered two tails for the boys. They were good and my oldest LOVED his. He got the classic and and the youngest ordered the classic with Nutella which was also really good. We may have grabbed a couple more on our trip. There are two locations right on the main street of Banff, so if you decide to shop. stop by and grab one or two!

We were all stuffed and needed to get to our river float. We booked through Banff Adventures and booked the Hoodoo Float Tour. We did this on our honeymoon sixteen years ago and wanted to bring the whole family back for the experience. We were so glad we did as soon as we stepped onto the boat. The guides are awesome, funny, patient and so informative. It was a wonderful way to see Banff in a new way. The tour starts at the base of the Bow River Falls and then goes about 7 miles. You ride back to the start on a school bus. It was a great way to see something new.

Our original plan was to call it a night and head back to the condo. We took the 3:20-4:20 tour and were all feeling a bit tired. I really wanted to squeeze in one more stop though so I talked very into going to Mount Norquay and taking a chairlift to the top. On our drive up to Mount Norquay we saw a little pullover area and decided to hop out before we reached the top and see the look over area. We were so happy that we did. Lots of little pikas popping up all around, beautiful views of Banff and not crowded at all.

It was nice to see Banff and the Bow River from above and to see goats walking along the road. We reached Mount Norquay and jumped onto the chairlift to take it to the top. If you haven’t visit Mount Norquay, add it to your list. Great spot to see some great views. #mountnorquay

We were all beat and headed back to the condo to crash. We ate McDonalds in Canmore on our way home and were happy with how fresh and delicious it tasted. I would also love to have McDonalds carry bakery stuff in our area. Yum it was delicious!!

It was a great day in Banff and we loved every minute of each activity!!
