If you have a cruise booked with Disney Fantasy, you have the option of booking excursions with them. The only hiccup in this plan is that most of the excursions we were interested in on this cruise needed a minimum age and our youngest didn’t meet the age. We wanted to snorkel in each of the spots we visited on this cruise and our boys are strong swimmers. We did take the puddle jumpers but we are confident in their swimming abilities. We decided to book each location on our own since Ben didn’t meet the age requirement. For Cozumel, we were looking for a nice, relaxing beach day instead of a snorkel adventure. We did bring our snorkel gear along, and my husband used it quite a bit. We looked at all of the options that Cozumel had to offer for a beach break and ultimately decided to book Nachi Cocom. Ben was 4 at this point and Jimmy was 6 so we wanted a spot where they could play on the beach, we could relax and there was a pool available for when the ocean wasn’t entertaining them. We also looked at Mr. Sanchos and decided against it because it my boys saw the inflatables in the water, they would want to go on the inflatables which would be a constant swim, help them, listen to them cry because they wanted to go again, repeat, repeat, repeat…and it wouldn’t feel much like a vacation for their dad and I.
When we walked off the ship, at the end of the dock there were a few dogs sniffing bags. REMEMBER: no open food can be taken off the ship, no fruit, no veggies. I had packed granola bars, Goldfish crackers and that was fine because it was all factory sealed! The dogs sniffed our bags, I showed them what was in the bag and OFF we went. We needed a cab for 6 of us so knew that we were searching for a minivan. If you walk straight off the dock area, wind through the top floor of the shops and take the escalators down to the ground floor, taxis are right behind the building. We asked how much for Nachi, they told us, we climbed in and off we went. Here are a few photos of Nachi. The water was shallow enough for the boys to wade around without puddle jumpers. I brought my own sand toys with me!
Once the boys wanted to go into deeper water, I made them put on puddle jumpers. I was sitting under the umbrella and the husband was snorkeling in the deeper areas, so I wanted to be sure they had something on when they were playing with Mimi and their aunt in the water:
The boys went back and forth between the pool area and the beach area. You can see how beautiful it was and it felt like our own private beach escape:
The pool has a nice little wading area for little kids. My guys liked the deeper end of the pool, but this was a nice addition:
Food and beverages are included at Nachi Cocom and we did the all inclusive beach break which includes:
• All you can Drink, unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks (Open Bar including: beer, liquors, cocktails, water, wine, sodas, juices and bottled water).
• A 4 courses lunch. À la carté menu for lunch includes Mexican Specialties as well as Caribbean treats.
• Lounge Chairs.
• All Beach Club Amenities.
We really enjoyed our day at Nachi Cocom. I was relaxing and private. The staff was amazing and made sure we were happy, well fed and our drinks never ran out! On the way back to the ship, it was super hot and they offer these cool rides back to the boat for $10.00. My oldest and I jumped into one and it was so much nicer than walking:
And to show you how amazing Disney really is, they were offering cool towels when you got back to the ship. I put a few of those on my neck because…it was super hot outside!! The boys also got a kick out of them. The station for water was also set up and I think it is such a nice touch!
Another question I had while planning our cruise: Do I need to bring my own towels for excursions?? NO, DO NOT waste the space. Disney had a huge metal bin when you are getting off at each stop. Even if you don’t book an excursion with Disney, you can still grab towels. Just be sure to bring them back. I loved being able to throw our dirty towels into this metal bin when we got back and boarded the ship. For a mommy who does a lot of wash, it was pure luxury not to have to worry about SANDY towels!!
Have you gone on a Disney cruise? Did you visit Cozumel? Hope this helps you in planning for your first or next trip!
